Just another day, yet a new day[Teaser]
Note: It's just a preview of a short novel I'm going to write about thegnome wizard/illusionist Rood Murning and the world of Sail, in celebration
of my passing the boardmaster training. It's in English because 1) my term
under mac only supports English input - which caused me a lot of trouble
during training and 2) I've always wanted to write something in pure English
and try to improve my writings - but the whole article will be in Chinese
for sure.
Note 2: Inspired by many things, the world of Sail it self, the charming
personality of Rood Murning, my good old friends, an old Chinese saying, All
Your Zombies, the walkthrough video of new PS3 game GOW3 and my lack of
fantasy/DND gaming experiences for long.
'B.C. 457 (note: Breeze City Years; 静风纪年)' Sooner after being written
down, it is crossed over by a small yet old hand, following with a sigh.
Instead, a much longer sentence is written down, 'A.O.L. 100, 100 years
after the Old Man left (note: see 侏儒的旅程 最终章 不说再见 x-7-22-2-1-7)'
following with another sigh, but heavier.
With this sentence written down, Rood Murning leans back on his chair - this
is the same gnome wizard, or more accurately illusionist, well known in this
world, but he is old now, and seems to be much older than he used to be and
suppose to be; he is only around 260 years old, which is a typical father
age of a gnome; in the early days, he was young or even when he wasn't so
young, he firstly went to the monument of breeze secretly following the
forgotten paladin/fighter and his friends in B.C. 345; he then went to the
village of Degun in B.C. 325; and finally he was given the order to solving
several problems in the human, elf and dwarf territory by the Old Man
himself but after that the Old Man just left; Rood Murning seems to be
quieter after the Old Man left and he started to become old, suffering from
the torture of time which was never a problem for him before, at least
before the Old Man left.
In Rood's mind, he couldn't resist the desire to go back to the good old
days, with his friends, with the Old Man sometimes. '100 years have gone,
and I'm really becoming old - maybe I've wasted too much time when I was
young thus as I'm becoming old I'm getting old much faster than other gnomes.
The world has changed totally. Can't you see it, you bastard Old Man? The
Lance paladin no longer posses the absolute power of Breeze City, and they
only bear the responsibility to guard their homelands. The elves and dwarfs
are more rational now, they even united in some way to help the knights to
fight against the demons from the Dark Forest but also bargain with the
knights for more. The barbarian northern place started to become a little
bit more organized. The west ... the southern ... can't you see all this
happening after you left, my dear Old Man?' mumbling in Rood Murning's tiny
mouth, with something blinking in his eyes, 'almost all races started to
stand up with their own ground and fight for their own future - after you
leaving, leaving us with no more Gods to rely on. But the one thing ...'
'Knock, knock' there is a knock on the door interrupting the mumbling.
With the door opening, a young gnome comes in. He stands in front of the
huge desk of Rood, with the childish face still can be seen even he tried
hard to conceal it.
'Dear Greatest Gnome Traveler Sir Murning' starting with an awkard yet not
accurate enough greeting, obviously not from the heart of this little young
boy, who seems to be restraining from his nature.
'Say you word, and I'll justify.' Not like the old usual Rood Murning if you
knew.
'um ... I'm from the family of ... um I am ... um ...' starting to feel
uncomfortable and forget the lines.
After a short while of silence, the young boy seems to have decided to take
the risk of not respect anything but just be himself.
'My name is Rudolf **&*^#&@^&#@*($#*^$&*#@$(*&*^&%^%$#$#$%^^ ...... Murmur'
he says so fast that Rood only hears the first and the last names, 'my name
meant that, at the very beginning of the world ... '
'Wait,' something so similar to Rood Murning, isn't it the way he used to do
self introduction, while so many year no more gnomes were so energetic and
active as the old Rood., 'Rudolf Murmur?" softly asked.
'Yes, my parents named me in order to have the same initial as you, Sir,
they even changed our family name Rurmur to Murmur, well it's not a big
change but ...'
'Enough, enough,' smiling Rood interrupts again, as he has long been not
similing. 'Take your badge and go on your journey, it will be fantastic for
sure.' twinkling to the young boy, Rood says.
'At least, there is one thing that has never changed, for you, my dear Old
Man.' Closed the door as the young boy leaves, but opened another door
deeply inside the heart of our respectable young little gnome. 原创??
