DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Nearly three dozen graduate students in Duke University'
s business school face steep penalties for cheating on an exam, school offic
ials said.

The incident, in which officials determined 34 students collaborated on answ
ers of an exam, is the largest cheating incident ever at Duke's Fuqua School
of Business.

Of the 34 students involved in the incident in the university's Master of Bu
siness Administration program, nine face expulsion, said Mike Hemmerich, an
associate dean at the business school.

Another 15 will receive a one-year suspension and a failing grade in the cou
rse, while nine students will get only a failing grade, officials said. One
student received a failing grade for the exam and four students were found n
ot guilty.

The names of the students, all from the class of 2008, were not released bec
ause of federal privacy laws, Hemmerich said.

He would not provide details about the exam or the course, and said those in
volved in the cheating were first-year students taking a required test.

Hemmerich said a red flag was raised after a professor noticed unusual consi
stencies in the answers of a take-home exam that was not meant for collabora
tion among students.

An appeal by students is expected, Hemmerich said, which would take about a
month. Meantime, they are considered regular students who can continue with
classes and final exams.

扬子晚报5月3日报道 据新华社电 美国北卡罗来纳州名校杜克大学富卡商学院1日宣布，学院决定严惩校史上最严重的一起集体作弊事件，34名研究生受到重罚。美联社报道说，富卡商学院一门研究生课程的授课教授发现，在一次期末开卷考试中，许多学生的答案雷同，于是把这一事件报告给学校裁决委员会。裁决委员会最终判定这是一起作弊事件，并严惩作弊学生。

商学院副院长迈克·亨默里克说，根据裁决委员会意见，9名学生面临被开除处分，15名学生留级查看一年并被判考试成绩不及格，9名学生被判考试不及格，1名学生因论文作弊面临被判成绩不及格的处罚。另有4名学生被认为没有责任。根据校规，受罚学生5月17日前可提出上诉。

这一作弊事件在富卡商学院学生中引起强烈反响。杜克大学工商管理硕士(MBA)协会会长、商学院一年级学生查尔斯·斯卡莱斯支持学院决定，他说:“我们以道德方面的佼佼者自居，人们也认为，我们具备行之有效的校规体系，不会暗箱操作。”杜克大学富卡商学院是美国知名商学院。

中国学生作弊有那么笨么

很多时候可能只是观念的问题, 认为开卷大家相互"参考" 都不算cheating, 还是要注意,Umass PSE曾经也有类似案例

嗯， 所以要提醒大家注意， 尤其是新生们， 以前国内写论文啥的这儿抄点儿那儿抄点儿，没有人教过要指明是引用，在这边还不注意是不行的。

那么多中国人在读mba？

mba班很大的，哈佛的mba一年收差不多千人。
