But your insurance rate will still increase in most cases due to the way they compute your points. The base line is 15 points, if you don't have any at-fault accidents or tickets in one year, they will deduct one point from the 15 points. Up to the previous 6 years records will be considered. So even if your base line doesn't increase for the first ticket, you still lose the one-point deduction of that year.
Go to appeal, it is easy.

You can always appeal no matter whether you are at-fault.
Find some excuse. It is not that difficult to appeal.

There will be the judger and a representative of the police. If the judger can dismiss the ticket right away, then you don't need to go back again. If the judger doesn't dismiss the ticket, then they will schedule another time for you to come back, and they will try to bring the police who wrote the ticket into the court.

BTW, is your ticket a traffic one or not?
Only traffic ticket affect your premium. Others like parking ticket, don't.

第一张ticket不增加point，但是涨不涨保险我就不知道了，因为保险公司是知道你拿了ticket的。
btw，points are calculated by RMV, not insurance company

It is just your baseline 15 point won't be increased, but you still lose the one-point safety bonus for that year. So your final point is 10 instead of the previous 9 if you have the 6 years experience.
