Right, the goal of social is to know each other and networking. GEO staffs will also join because they want to know more Chinese grad students and to be available in case there are GEO related questions to answer. So, if people scatter away in the activity, it doesn't serve the purpose.

It will be great if we can arrange a center spot where people can gather, eat, and social, and other activities are available in the surrounding, like ball games / beach activities...

You have any suggestion which seaside? As far as I know, we cannot go to a real seaside in less than 1 hour drive. It's hard to arrange such a social because we want to include as many people as possible.

BTW, maybe sometime you should go to Hampton Beach. It's really fun there.

I think the nearest beach is at least 2 hours. I've heard Cape Cod Beach is awesome. It is a very commercialized beach though.
