顶啊顶啊，偶支持斑竹，贴一个偶几年前写的，不过只适用于在这里呆够了5年的Resident Alien的人用

因为懒，不想去School of Management排队
于是决定在网上找tax return filing service
Google乐一堆出来，一开始以为爽阿，
结果折腾了半天，每个都是最后file或打印的时候要钱


于是决定BT个软件下来做。1hour later....还是
失败了。。。。软件都是trial version

最后想算了。。。自己download form填算了
跑到http://www.irs.gov 上一看，咦？有freefile...
点进去一看。。。原来通过这个地方去那些网站
你e-file的你的federal tax return是不要钱的

但是又有一个问题：这里进去的网站只提供free Federal Tax filing
State tax还是要钱！！！

于是顺藤摸瓜，又找到了Massachusetts的free file网页

进去之后，选TurboTax把statetax也搞定了
好累好累
哎。。。就是不想排队，结果花了几乎一个下午


但又想起来分享给还没办税的同学参考。。。确实可以
省不少时间。。。进去那些网站，大概10分钟就搞定
了，还可以e-file,估计比正常mail要快至少一个月提早拿到
refund! 爽就是一个字！！对于我这种连贴邮票都懒得
干的人来说是最适合的了。赫赫

宇文老大加的注释：

从Federal IRS的主页上选择一个free tax return的链接。

如果是resident alien可以选择TurboTax Freedom Edition，Federal和State的今年都可以免费，而且填完Federal的部分以后所有信息都会自动copy到State Tax Return的文档里面，不用重新再填。

在填income和deduction的时候不用它的guide自己选择项目更快一些，因为学生通常只有一两项income/wage。

Turbo只有resident alien的税表，和resident用一样的。non－resident alien的同学可以在IRS的主页上试一试其它的链接。

Right, I did it last year and this year.

There is no filing software (as far as I know) that applies to nonresident aliens, so they have to use paper file. Do not trust the tax filing agents, they give you more refund by claiming you as resident alien.

this is a good one.
my contribution is following:

1. non resident is not allowed to e-file tax return.
2. there is some online filling software, but i have not found a free one so far. normally, at around 20+ bucks for 1040NR-EZ/1040NR along with 8843.
3. if you are mistakingly deducted social sec/med tax, use form 843 to request a refund.
4. to Ao:
you may file as a resident alien as you have been here for more than 5 years (have you ). u may also file itemized deduction, which is most CPA's will do and probably give u greater deduction.

我补充一点儿，今年的resident alien可以拿到至少300$ tax rebate, 一家最多1200$

Cintax是可以file non-resident的
