轮胎漏气(求助)

If your wheel is not bended at all; just a little deformation around the edge/ rim that causes air leakage, there is an alternative: you can install an inner tube.

The Monroe guys here in my area (Dartmouth) don't know shit and always try to rip people off. Two classic incidents happened recently:

1/ A post-doc went there for an oil change. They told him his brakes needed service ASAP or otherwise too danger to drive. The post-doc told them all 4 brakes had been replaced in their shop a yr. ago. They blamed him for harsh driving style. I checked all brakes (calipers, pads, rotors) for him and they were as good as new! The post-doc also paid $90 for a cooling system flush there two weeks ago. However, this past weekend when I did the water pump, coolant came out had the appearance and smell like sewage! They didn't even flush then charged him $90!!!

2/ My brother took his car, purchased new a mere 1.5 yr. ago, to replace all 4 tires. The kid there used hammer to bang on the rear drums trying to take them off. My brother yelled to stop him and said he only asked to replace the tires. When my brother was not watching, the kid went on to pop the hood and open the air box. He took out the filter and shown it to my brother saying it was too dirty and needed to be replaced. But folks, that was an oiled K&N in its natural color!

Comeon, many garages are like that. That's how they make money.

My suggestion is, DIY whenever possible.

I don't mind shops charge their customers high price; after all, auto repair is hard and dirty work and shop owners have to pay for overheads and insurance. But at least they have to be honest running the business.

Regarding DIY, if you don't want to get your hands dirty and you can earn more per hr. than what mechanics charge you per hr., go ahead and have them do it for you. I now impose my personal policy when people come to me for help. For female, she has to know how to check all fluids under the hood and proper tire pressure; for male, all of the mentioned + buying a set of basic hand tools + changing to a spare tire in front of me.

P.S./ Pretty girls are exempted from the aforementioned LOL
